Hip-Hop/Trip-Hop band Halfpenny Pass amalgamate contrasting genres into their own unique sound with a down to earth London edge.
This passionate collective ‘brimming with musicality and flair’ (Be Exposed Magazine) has played alongside an impressive roster of artists over the past year; including Bombay Bicycle Club and Andreya Triana. Halfpenny’s track record of performing high-octane live sets was highlighted when they recently released their debut EP ‘halfcut’ at a sell-out performance at Rolling Stock in Shoreditch.
The 5 tracks on ‘halfcut’ EP were recorded and mixed by renowned producer George Shilling and they fuse hip-hip, trip-hop, funk and jazz influences that provide a taste of Halfpenny’s distinctive sound.
Since then, Halfpenny Pass have gone on to play at some of London’s most well known venues, including The Troubadour, The Old Queen’s Head and a headline set at Proud Camden in early December. They have also become firm favourites with underground music movement Sofar Sounds, playing at many of their events at various venues around town. In January, Halfpenny played on the main stage at Rich Mix in Shoreditch, having been selected from hundreds as one of the 15 finalists at the Zealous X arts festival.
